Unfortunately, the most educated classes in society, those who should know better, and have all the skills to act from a higher standard of conduct, through their access to higher education and knowledge often fail to bring peacemaking skills to the table.

Each and every one of these professionals have every skill necessary to act with integrity, but many fail to do so, chasing the almighty buck, pandering and exploiting the raw emotions of couple's whose relationships and marriages have come flying aprt at the seams.

Every Family Law Judge, Lawyer and related profession should be acting from this higher ethical and moral standard. They should be looking to be truly helpful to "children and parents in crisis".

They should be held accountable. But in today's world where the world economy was almost brought to it's knees by the lack of ethics, our Family Courts, and those who work there,  often make matters far worse than they need to be, mainly because they go to Family Court to "wage war" instead of making peace. For a father, the "deck is stacked against him from the outset.  For example...

I won't bore you with all the sordid details, after all I picked this girl - But for me, her betrayal of our marriage was the final straw...She was making me pick between her and our kids.

The kids won hands down. It was no contest.

I'm an adult child of divorce. My parent's divorce was one of the lowest and unhappy points in my life. I began experimenting with heavy drugs at age 14 in the 1970's and ended up within 3 years being hospitalized six times from drug overdoses...so I knew only too well how divorce affects kids.

Like you, I too was concerned about the future, what would happen, how I could either convince my soon to be ex-wife to share custody of the children with me, leaving them with me in our home, because truth be told, I was the better parent, and she was engaged in activities that made it inappropriate for the children to live with her.

I also knew that I was in a lot of trouble. I was no stranger to the fact that the legal system seems to favour women in these matters.

But I also knew that if I took decisive action, I could probably expect a better result. So I began a quest to educate myself and change the trajectory of my life.

Like you, being Dad was the most important thing in my life. I was totally in love with being a father to my step-son Luc and our daughter Elyenne.

I had worked really hard to be a good dad to Luc and Elyenne, to get Luc's dad to trust me, and to develop a good relationship with him. I enjoyed watching Elyenne learn to crawl...stand up...take her first steps, talk, and as she grew older we became very close, going for walks, as I held her tiny hand, go camping with Luc's Scout Group as a Scout Leader.

Luckily, my instincts saved me from certain disaster - But it was hard when I separated from Luc and Elyenne's mother. Even considering that the kids lived with me. At age 50, I have spent most of my life dealing with the stupidity of failed relationships, be they between my parents when they separated and divorced in the early 1970's, two failed marriages, one a "practice marriage with no kids, and the second, a failed marriage with two kids, one my step-son Luc now age 28, and my daughter Elyenne by the end of the 1980's.

Family Court operates on the principle "The Best Interests Of The Child". However it is often a problematic and subjective standard set by each individual's Judge's beliefs and politics. For example... 

The biggest mistake you can ever make is to wage war against Mom in Family Court. She will win that argument EVERYTIME. Think of it like this... If you dragged your ex-wife down the middle of a crowded street in broad daylight, you'd not get very far. In fact, you'd probably be jumped and subdued by several bystanders, who would then call the police.

HOWEVER...if you were to reverse the roles, with Mom dragging you down the street in a headlock, you'd probably see a lot of people laughing at you.

That's the double standard men face. Often we mislead ourselves into believing the world is a fair place when in fact it is anything but a fair place. The facts are Men and women have always been treated differently, and it's likely they always will.

Unfairness extends to every aspect of Family Court. Consider the following:

What Will You Do When You Run Out Of Money For A Lawyer?

For example: Picture you just lost your job and need to modify your child support, because it is being taken directly from your unemployment insurance benefits at a rate of 50% from each and every cheque that the government sends you. How will you pay your bills?

What do you do?

The only thing you can do is go back to Family Court and ask for a modification / variance of the Court order. But don't you need a lawyer to do that?

HOW EXACTLY do you pay for that lawyer when you lost your job?

Only lawyers could design a system that requires you to hire them when you have no money to do so...DOES THAT SOUND FAIR TO YOU?

WELCOME TO FAMILY COURT...

1. Family Court is an unfriendly and intimidating environment:

When Separated and Divorced Dads first enter into Family Court, it more often than not seems to be an extremely unhelpful place. In many Family Court's, you must first go through metal detectors, and are subject to search. You often cannot bring in your cell phone. When you go to find out information, you get the sense that you are not welcome and that you are inside a very unhappy place...

2. Family Court Services are not geared towards men:

When you try to get some help and advice, you get a "frosty reception" from staff, and legal aid lawyers. It seems like no one cares about your problem. Sometimes you may be told that fathers never win in Family Court. You go to the information racks which are filled with information geared to women and find ZERO there for dads...

3. The Lawyer you hired seems to be working harder for Mom:

You thought you'd found a GREAT Lawyer, but once you went to Family Court, all your lawyer did was sit there and let Mom's lawyer do all the talking in Family Court before the Judge. PLUS the Judge has ordered you sit down, shut-up and to pay Mom's legal bill...

4. You think you need help from a "Fathers Rights Lawyer":

Good luck in finding one. In North America there are only a handful of lawyers who specialize in "Fathers Rights". And even if you live near one, chances are you may not have enough money left after going to court 2-3 times...

5. There is a better way, if you are willing to learn how:

There are plenty of successful divorced dads - Finding them is really tough though. Until now. I am one of those successful divorced dads. I have coached thousands of divorced dads over the last 15 years to astonishing levels of success, even when these dads were told they would lose, by the Family Court and top Family Law Lawyers.

6. Who ever told you to "WAGE WAR" in Family Court is wrong:

Would your children be proud of you "slagging" mom in Family Court? have you ever considered what Judges listen to all day long, day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year?
